The Meeting & EventBarometer is the only study that analyses the entire event market in Germany and provides a meaningful picture of the industry. It was initiated by the European Association of Event Centres (EVVC), the German Convention Bureau (GCB) and the German National Tourist Board (GNTB).

The Meeting & Event Barometer, which is compiled by the European Institute for the Meetings Industry (EITW) at the Werningerode University of Applied Sciences, has been providing up-to-date facts and figures on the following topics since 2007:

  • Events - total volume and differentiation
  • Participants - total volume, breakdown and behaviour
  • Utilisation of the event venues
  • Background to the utilisation of event venues
  • Organisers - breakdown, origin and budgets
  • Ranking of German destinations
  • Current topics
  • future trends and tendencies

The study consists of a survey of organisers, which includes all event venues in Germany with more than 100 seats in the largest hall with row seating. Every year, around 4,000 providers are surveyed throughout Germany. The demand side is covered by an organiser survey and includes around 15,000 companies, associations and agencies worldwide.
